Assume positive intent is a term that is used often in school culture work, along with positive regard. In reality the application of it as a driving belief and principle can get derailed when trust is lacking, people's stress levels rise or there is a fear of asking questions. 

This Buzz Bite contains a metaphor for discussing the term 'positive intent', looking at bumblebees and blowflies. A bit of fun to name a difficult discussion. Do the people in your school immediately assume that there are positive intent behind actions, like bumblebees drawn to pollen?  Or do they get drawn into the vortex of despair, and head straight for the garbage, and assume the worst?
